Web3 sports brand WAGMI United has announced a new partnership with Adidas to launch an NFT collection based upon its subsidiary and English League One club Crawley Town. The collection, dubbed ‘WAGMI United,’ launches on July 6th, 2022.
Although the artwork of the collection remains TBA, holders of a WAGMI United NFT will receive access to an array of Crawley Town club perks, as well as the ability to receive Adidas-branded physical and digital merchandise.
More poignantly, holders will also be able to join a ‘fan council,’ where, in a world’s first, decisions within the football club will be made within a decentralised fashion through NFT ownership granting decision-making powers to previously voiceless fans.
Here, fans will be given a hands-on role in determining the fate and direction of the club through making decisions such as whether the chairman and co-chairman of the East London-based club should keep their jobs if the team doesn’t get promoted to England’s third tier of football next season. For the footballing community as whole, such a level of fan power is completely unprecedented.
The endeavour comes as part of WAGMI United’s vision to turn Crawley Town into a widely-known internet team that has a worldwide global audience. Ultimately, and as stated on its website, the goal of the project its to take Crawley Town all the way to the holy grail of English football, the Premier League.
